IN THE AIR II: VOICES FROM DETROIT AND BEYOND debuts with work by Lancer Casem, on view September 1 through 17, 2021.  To accompany the piece, an online artist talk will be held on Thursday, September 17, 7PM.  

Born and raised in the Philippines, Lancer Casem is currently based in Detroit, Michigan, where she pursued a BFA in Photography from the College for Creative Studies. Upon graduation in May 2019, Casem’s work has been reviewed in Barangay, Ur Internet Friends, NuGallery Magazine, Quartz Quarterly, Sandwich Talk, and Hard Conversations. Casem has exhibited work locally, nationally, and internationally at Art Basel, Unspoken Gallery, Tempo Rubato Gallery, Culture Club, Riverside Studios, Tangent Gallery, Hard Gallery, Assemble Sound, ASPACE, and Granny’s Chandelier. Casem has attended Artists-In-Residency programs such as Fulcrum Project, Siren Hotel, and a DJ-In-Residency at Deluxx Fluxx, and Foundation Hotel.

As an Artist, Creative Director and Collaborator, Casem has worked with an extensive list of clients, which includes, Swizz Beats, Toro Y Moi, Kesswa, Curtis Roach, Sam Austins, Earlly Mac, Whiterosemoxie, Zelooperz, Gabriel Duran, Neena Roe, Jax Anderson, People For Detroit, Levi's, Footlocker, American Eagle, and Amendi. Casem is currently a member of BARANGAY, an international artist collective based in New York and the Philippines. In late 2021, Casem will be exhibiting her first solo exhibition.
