MOBILE ARTS WORKSHOP PROGRAM

The James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and Art History, WSU held two-day drawing workshops for youth throughout July and August at the following community sites in Detroit: Balduck Park, Farwell Recreation Center, Palmer Park, and Patton Recreation Center.

Participants learned about abstract art and basic design fundamentals through the exposure of well-known works by influential artists. Examples were on hand for inspiration and reference. The participants interpretations were created using a variety of mark-making techniques through assorted mediums to complete each work, provided by the Mobile Arts workshop volunteers. Each workshop included an extensive drawing project, accommodating approximately 15-20 participants per site, ranging from the ages of 5-18 years old.
