Robin Jourdan
MFA Applicant, Printmaking
Artist Statement
These pieces are from a series that came about when I was reflecting on aspects of the current Covid-19 quarantine and the idea of community and belonging settled in my mind.
To familiarize myself with what belonging can mean to many I did a little research into the subject. For example, our ideas about our future self is forged on a sense of belonging; and this motivates our actions today.
Today technology connects us in ways historically new, from the submarine cable system holding the internet together to the connection economy that build on our cultural ideas of tribe. It has been fun to play with the singular and multiple, micro and macro litanies around belonging.
